"For the first time, the Eusebio Cup will be played outside the Stadium of Light. The eighth edition of the race will be held in Mexico at BBVA Bancomer Stadium, home of Club de Fútbol Monterrey, on the 2nd of August.

This is the club where da Silva Ferreira Eusébio spread its magic in the 70s, to represent the Rayados, the name by which it is known this great Mexican emblem.

The corresponding trophy to the eighth edition of the Eusebio Cup will thus be awarded to the winner of the match between CF Monterrey and SL Benfica.

The game also has the particularity to report a historic moment of great significance for the CF Monterrey with the opening of his magnificent new stadium.

This reason, coupled with the fact that honor the memory of the best Portuguese player of all time, in a country where he lived and the club he represented, were decisive for the Eusebio Cup option travel to the Americas.

Founded in 2008, Eusébio Cup seeks to honor one of the best footballers of all time and the greatest reference of the long and rich history of the Sport Lisboa e Benfica, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The CF Monterrey is the second club in the Americas to participate in the Eusebio Cup after Brazil's Sao Paulo in 2013.

Inter Milan, AC Milan, Tottenham, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Ajax were the other clubs that contributed to honor this achievement. "
